It used to be the case that a thermostat had to be placed according to the location of the other important bits in a heating system – because it has to be connected to that system by wires. No more. Like the wireless phone, the wireless internet connection and the wireless microphone, wireless heating thermostats make the most of modern technology by employing a signal emitter and receiver (transceiver, for the technically minded), which “talks” to a base station wired into the whole heating system. The result? You can put your actual thermostat anywhere within an average 60m range of the base unit, allowing you to place it somewhere where it might actually be convenient to users of the room.
